Charities Apply For A Record Number Of Coronavirus Emergency Money Grants

In the wake of the COVID-19 crisis the National Lottery Fund has received a record number of applications for emergency money from the Not-For-Profit sector

In a recent statement the National Lottery announced that, on the day its coronavirus emergency fund become available it received a record number of applications.

The fund has started to distribute an initial £200m of emergency Government grants to help support the Non-Profit sector in England.

 

That £200m is part of a wider £310m to be distributed by the NLCF (National Lottery Community Fund) with £110m being held back for once the initial £200m has been distributed to aid the NLCF in any learnings from the early distribution of the grants. 

 

At the moment applications are being assessed in the order they were received causing the Directory of Social Change to release a public warning that stated charities should act quickly if they wanted to apply.

 

  • Organisations in England can apply for funding of between £300 and £10,000 to cover six months’ expenditure. 
  • Organisations in England can apply for funding of between £300 and £10,000 or for more than £10,000 to cover six months’ expenditure.

 

The NLCF expects most funding applications will be for between £10,000 and £100,000 and said it would consider larger awards or longer timeframes, particularly for organisations working across more than one area of England, on a case-by-case basis.
