cloudThing would like to offer their congratulations to The Institute of Fundraising after being granted chartered status.
The membership organisation (with over 6,000 members), in a recent press release, stated that HRH The Queen had approved their application which meant the way was now open for the membership body to become the Chartered Institute of Fundraising this year after first starting the process back in 2015.
When asked to comment the Institute of Fundraising (IoF) said that becoming a chartered body would have benefits including elevating the public view of the fundraising profession, making fundraising a more attractive career for all and adding to the status of its members.
The Royal Charter can’t take effect though until the Royal Seal is granted.
The Royal Seal needs to be attached to the document granting their Chartered Status before it becomes official but is expected in the next few months.
This is a huge achievement less than 37 years after a few volunteers met for the first time to form what is today the Institute of Fundraising. It demonstrates, through the royal charter, formal public recognition across the UK of fundraising as a profession and of the specialist professional skills fundraisers bring to their work, making the world a better place.
