Another great win for Microsoft Azure!
Two local authorities in the northwest have awarded a combined £35m reseller contract for their Microsoft licenses and cloud services.
The councils, Cheshire East and Cheshire West, decided to team up to:
adopt and consume Microsoft Azure SaaS/PaaS and other cloud-hosted services and products whilst continuing to migrate core applications into an Azure cloud environment through engagement with our strategic cloud enablement partner.
The £35m spending was authorised back in September after a decision was made “to avoid the costs of change as a result of a change in technology."
One of the biggest deciding factors for choosing Microsoft Azure was the UK Governments Digital Transformation Arrangement with Microsoft as well the Azure Pricing Agreement they came to.
These agreements enable UK public sector customers to receive greater discounts for our Cloud hosted solutions
This deal follows on from a shorter, previous arrangement to migrate to the Cloud for £5.31m with a separate partner that was also joint funded by Cheshire East and West Councils as part of their five-year IT investment programme.
Both councils' choice of Microsoft Azure as part of their five year transformation strategy , is underlined by their decision to share an ERP which is set to replace their older, Oracle system with everything going live in February.
